Benalmadena is one of the chief tourist centers on the western Costa del Sol, boasts nice scenic views as it is on a hill. Has 52,200 people in its municipality of 27 Kms2, and only 19 kilometres from Malaga airport. Most of it’s population lives in Arroyo de la Miel, where there is a train station that connects you to Málaga’s City & the Airport, or Torremolinos and Fuengirola. On the beach front we have Benalmádena Costa, which has many great hotels and golf courses, a Casino and a beautiful marina that has many restaurants/bars, but also many tourist attractions, such as boat trips.
Málaga City is the Capital of La Costa del Sol, the 6th biggest of all Spain, with 561,000 people and 395 Kmts2, is a very distinguished modern seaport city. Thanks to its mild climate, beaches and to the strategic position of its port makes it one of the most important tourist destinations. The most interesting buildings here are: La Cathedral, Castle of Gibralfaro, Citadel, Archaeological Museum, the Alcazaba, the Roman Theatre, the Fine Arts Museum, and also Calle Larios, the old town's main thoroughfare, are few alternatives not to be missed.
The surrounding area of Málaga invites you to tour a province marked by sharp contrasts between the towns inland and those on the coast. La Costa del Sol is dotted with towns of considerable tourist tradition, and its Málaga International Airport (AGP) is the nearest to most important villages such as Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas or Marbella and it’s Puerto Banus.
Torremolinos is one of the popular destinations in the Mediterranean. This town only 12 kilómetres from Málaga capital, has a long and extensive history. The major change occurred in the second half of the 20th century, when this fishing town discovered the tourism potential, and has since become one of the chief centres for attracting tourists on La Costa del Sol, thanks to major tourist facilities and the quality of its infrastructure. Torremolinos has 60,000 people in its 20 Kms.
Mijas Pueblo has only 7,500 people of all its Municipality population of 64,300 in its 148 Kms2. Mijas a touristic town at the foot of the hills of the same name. Standing on this spot, like a huge balcony overlooking the Mediterranean, the layout of the town is an unmistakable reminder of its Arab past. A tour through its lively streets reveals a typically Andalucian town steeped in history and white houses full of charming corners and the lovely sanctuary of the Virgen de la Peña.
Its traditional status as a mountain village has been combined harmoniously with a major tourist complex located in the coast: La Cala de Mijas, where there are 12 kilometres of beaches and the surrounding area like the Mijas Golf’s landscapes. |
